Here at iMix, we’re immensely proud of the accreditations we have within the industry, showing the respect and reputation we’ve earned from our industry’s governing bodies and authorities. However, we know that without description, just listing our accreditations might not mean much to some. To make things clearer, we’ve broken down what our accreditations are and what they mean.
BSI is one of the country’s leading standards companies, and their assessments cover concrete, masonry and cement. EN 197-1 is the standard to which cement must conform to, and producers of conforming products are awarded an EC Certificate of Conformity. There are a number of standards available for concrete and cement products:
- BS EN 206-1 and BS 8500 for ready mixed concrete
- EN 197-1 for Portland cement
- BS 146 for Portland blastfurnace cement
- BS 4027 for sulfate-resisting Portland cement
- BS 5224 for masonry cement
- BS 6588 for Portland pulverised-fuel ash cements
The assessment for BS EN 206-1 for ready mixed concrete is based around the supplier’s quality management system, the standard of the supplier’s factory production control (including plants, equipment and personnel), and the technical and production processes used.
